Beginner Obedience Training

Beginner obedience training is for the slightly older puppy/dog, aged 4½ months onwards, whose handlers wish to teach their dog to be a happy, well behaved canine companion. The Club teaches you to train your dog using an appropriate collar and leash, and positive reinforcement. The handler learns how to train the dog to be calm, disciplined and obedient, all of which which engenders security. No dog is too old to learn!

There are three different stages in our obedience training and classes are graded by the colours Brown, Green and White. Your dog is not adequately trained until these classes are completed.

Beginner Obedience Classes commence at 2:00pm on Sundays and handlers should arrive no later than 1:30pm for vetting (dog's health check). Handler joining Brush Farm Dog Training Club for the first time should arrive at 12:30pmWITHOUT THE DOG to allow time for registration and orientation

Handlers are:

  • required to arrive promptly,
  • obliged to wear solid shoes,
  • reminded to have mobile phones turned off during training.

Recommend training equipment:

  • 1m (3ft) lead.
  • leather or strap collar
  • small, food treats to be used as reward.
